Miami Fashion Week announced its official return to the runway on Wednesday after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting social distancing restrictions that led to the cancellation of many events at fashion for 24 months.
From Tuesday, May 31 through Sunday, June 5, the 22nd edition of Miami Fashion Week will be held in person, the first in two years, at various Miami venues including the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Seaspice, Gary Nader Art Center and the Frost Science Museum.
Blending fashion, culture, arts and sustainability, the week-long program kicks off Tuesday, May 31 with a press conference at the East Hotel in Miami, a LEED-certified hotel that emphasizes sustainable practices in line with the approach, according to the organizers, the program is focused on sustainability.
"As the pandemic demonstrates the importance and necessity of sustainable fashion practices to limit supply chain disruptions and the fashion industry's impact on the environment, Miami Fashion Week is dedicated to invest all necessary resources to highlight the role of sustainability during World Fashion Week." “Ensuring the growth and future of the industry,” organizers said in a statement.
On the program side, this season, many international designers, including the Italian luxury brand Missoni, will exhibit their women's collection on Wednesday June 1 at the Vizcaya Museum & Gardens.
Fellow designers Ángel Sánchez, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, Naeem Khan, Benito Santos and Rene by RR will also showcase their latest resort collections throughout the week.
The event will culminate on June 4 with a Miami Fashion Week Green & Tech Gala featuring a sustainability panel discussion and a closing brunch on June 5.
Note: Miami Swim Week tickets and detailed schedule are typically released 4-6 weeks prior to the start of Swim Week.
